When modeling an application, all of its logical parts are represented with CIs of the BMC_ApplicationSystem class or its subclasses. Low-level elements of an application, corresponding to individual items of software running on single computers, are represented with the BMC_SoftwareServer subclass; the overall collection of all parts of software that make up an instance of an application with a particular business function is represented with the BMC_Application subclass. BMC_ApplicationSystem is used for parts of an application model that do not correspond to one of the specific subclasses.
